Helena-- Three winning photos have been selected from 615 that
were submitted to the Montana Wildlife Federation’s
Annual Photo Contest. This is more than a fifty
percent increase from last year’s
submissions. Ninety five photographers, thirty
three more than last year, submitted photos for
the fourth competition that captured images ranging from flowers
to landscapes and wildlife to people enjoying the Montana outdoors.
The three contest winners are:
FIRST PLACE: Randy Williams
of Missoula [Randy Williams took first place in the competition
with his unique photo of a mountain lion and its
reflection in the water. He received a Pentax
Optio S45 Digital Camera and bag donated by Marsha Phillips
and F-11 Photographic Supply in Bozeman.]

SECOND PLACE: William Faust of Whitehall
[Second place went to Faust for his impressive photo of a Sandhill
Crane
and chick. Faust received
a Canon Camera Bag donated by The Dark Room in
Missoula.]

THIRD PLACE: David Williams of Great Falls [David
Williams snapped a mesmerizing photo of 12 turkey vultures standing
on a fence
row with
wings spread that took third place in the contest. For
his prize-winning photo, Williams received a $50 gift certificate
donated by Bozeman Camera Repair.]
 HONORABLE
MENTION AWARDS in this year’s
photo contest are Michael Spencer of Bozeman [mountain
goat] and Jim Huffied of White Sulphur Springs (flying sandhill
cranes).


“MWF is thankful to all the photographers for participating
in the contest and pleased with the increased interest by
photographers,” said
Jan Cronin, MWF’s photo contest coordinator. “The
high caliber photos and outstanding quality of the images that
these photographers selected made this years contest a
real joy to sort and review but with so many quality entries,
choosing the top three photos was a very tough job for our
judges.”
Cronin said the annual photo contest is MWF’s
way to recognize and share with others the remarkable outdoor
opportunities Montana has to offer.“Thank you to all who submitted photos, and keep your camera handy next
time you are in the field,” stated Cronin, “Our next photography
contest will kick off in September 2007.
