Dear Email Sentry and Wildlife Habitat
Supporter:
In 1987, the Montana Legislature showed the foresight to recognize
dramatic shifts in population and economics on Montanans and the
wildlife they love by passing Habitat Montana.
The value of this remarkable program cannot be overstated....and
it works!!!
- Through 2003, almost $21 MILLION was invested in Conservation
Easements on 214,000acres!
- ... $12 MILLION was invested in purchasing almost 34,000
acres of critical wildlife habitat!
- ... more than 11,000 acres are protected by short-term lease
agreements.
Sportsmen have a significant opportunity to again show their
support and appreciation for the benefits of this program, which
has conserved 258,000 acres of seriously threatened wildlife habitat
types while providing for
the financial health of 30 ranch families.
House Bill 79 (HB79) reauthorizes the HABITAT MONTANA PROGRAM,
this time without a "sunset" provision. Hunters, anglers,
all conservationists, and concerned Montanans need to be involved
when HB 79 is heard in the House Fish Wildlife and Parks Committee
on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at 3PM.
Please consider one of the following options:
- If you can, attend the Committee meeting on Tuesday, January
25, 2005 at 3:00 PM and show your support for HB 79. The room
should be full of hunters and anglers... MWF will be glad to
coordinate attendance by arranging car pools for affiliate club
members.
