Nimrod's Trace is a column dedicated to the quest by hunters
to find a path for themselves through the increasingly hostile
jungle of modern human civilization. The column title comes from
two ideas joined together: 'Nimrod' is a symbolic name for all
hunters which originates in the Old Testiment; Nimrod was a son
of Ham and a mighty hunter. 'Trace' originally was an old English
term meaning to find or follow the best or true path.
Ron Moody, the author of Nimrod's Trace, has been
a hunter over the
entire span of his adult life. He currently serves as Vice President
for Internal Affairs for the Montana Wildlife Federation, and
is a past president of the Southeastern Montana Sportsmen's Association
and a former Secretary and Director of the Billings Rod and Gun
Club. A hunter by nature he lives in Lewistown, Montana where
he runs with a pack of two English Setters, one Black Lab and
an "almost trained" Brittany pup.
